The Qld Motorsport Museum is currently closed pending the outcome of a proposal currently with the Qld Government.
The proposal has been sent to the Minister for Transport, Mr Mark Bailey, but will require the cooperative support of the Minister for Innovation and Tourism , Ms Kate Jones, and Museums Qld.
The proposal is to: -
Utilise a vacant Noth Ipswich Railway Workshop building and become an integral part of the Workshops Rail Museum to create a world class Transport Museum complex.
The offer by the Owner of QMM is to facilitate the display and exhibition of over 250 vehicles plus thousands of items of memorabilia plus maintain and expand historical reference material already amassed as part of the current QMM.
A single entry fee, received and taken to by Museums Qld to pay for the infrastructure and outgoings associated with the new museum.
The economic benefit to the local community comes in the form of the tourism dollar, local employment and for community support organisations such as Alzehmers Association, Aged Care and disability workplace opportunities that have now been let go as a result of our closure.
